Testomato’s New Slack App Simplifies Notification Settings

Testomato’s new Slack App simplifies connecting Testomato to Slack and replaces the older webhooks solution.

Testomato’s New Slack App Simplifies Notification Settings

Why didn’t we have a Slack App before?

Before Slack introduced Apps, Testomato allowed users to send notifications to Slack using webhooks. Since this worked very well, there was no reason to switch to a different system. However, Slack now considers webhooks “an outdated way for teams to integrate with Slack” and no longer recommends using it.

So we’ve adapted and now offer our own Slack App.

Backwards compatibility

Our Slack App is backwards-compatible with the original webhooks solution. That means that if you’ve been using webhook up until now, you don’t need to change anything. You will continue to get notifications.

If you’re new to Slack, this is how you can get started:

Setup instructions

  1. Open the Instant Notifications Settings page in Testomato
  2. In the Slack Integration section, click Add to Slack buton
  3. Select channel or username where Testomato.com should post
  4. Click on Allow buton
  5. Optionally click on Test notification button to chech if everything works fine.

Once set up correctly, you should see something like this:

Notifications can be sent either to the channel (#channel_name) or as a direct message to a specific person (@username).
