We recently welcomed a new product owner to our team, Monika Šmídová!

Who are you and what is your role at Testomato?

Hi, I’m Monika Šmídová, and I’m the product owner of Testomato. I spend most of my time (with the help of the rest of our team) trying to find ways to make automated testing faster and easier for our users.

What’s your favorite part so far about working on this project?

I’ve only been here since January, but so far I enjoy working together with great people and trying to find ways to improve the experience of using Testomato to test websites and other web projects.

How do you think a product owner differs from a traditional project manager?

Based on my own past experience as a project manager, I’ve found that as a product owner I am more focused on what’s best for our users and their needs rather than on the milestones of an abstract project.

How do you decide what features or product areas to prioritize?

We really try to listen to our customers and make changes based on their needs and feedback. Most of the time, we discuss new ideas together as a team and like to develop more complex features based on what’s best for both our users and Testomato as an entire service.

What’s your least favorite error?

Waking up too early on weekends :-). Somehow, this never happens to me on work days!

What do you think is the most challenging aspect of your work?

For me, it’s very challenging to find the best way to blend our ideas with what our customers would like to see, and then make them fit into our future roadmap and budget. It’s all about striking the perfect balance, and sometimes, the way to achieve this isn’t always clear from the beginning.

Tell us one geeky fact about yourself.

I would like to visit all countries in the world. And one which isn’t a country – Antarctica.
